Dance together this Studio Saturday First Dance Studios

Studio Saturday

By Lorraine Ansell | 05 December 2020

How exciting is it to be back at the studio? On the scale of 5, 6, 7, 8 it is about 160 bpm!  It has been so wonderful seeing many of you both in your Royal Dance Box as well as on the screen as you zoom into the room.

Did you check out the new timetable? Have a look and see what we have going on here at First Dance Studios this December. And today we keep dancing. Have a go from the comfort of your own home or in studio.  Join in with ballet, tap, contemporary and latin dance classes. And remember, we’ve gone almost totally Christmas Crazy!

What dance classes are on this Saturday?

Whether you join us from home or the studio we have a show stopping list of classes. First Dance Studios has 4 dance disciplines and 5 classes on. What, really? Yes really, everything from ballet, tap, contemporary and latin dance for all abilities. Check out the list below.

What does the Saturday timetable look like? Have a look – times have changed from last week

10.30am CONTEMPORARY with Emily – do this from the comfort of your own home. Dancing today to India Aire’s “I am Light.” This beautiful melody is perfect, full of intention for strong sweeping arm movements. Become divinity defined with this wonderful meaningful dance.

Available live streaming online and as a recording.

11.15am Inter Ballet with Emily –  get your ballet fix in this weekend as this is the last one before the Christmas break. This class will feature a new ballet barre. Emily is an expert of explaining each step in warm up. Easy to follow and with instructions that make you think as well as move. Then a wonderful Adage in the centre to “Frozen.”

Available livestreaming online and as a recording.

Back in the studio this Saturday we have…

1.45pm Ballet with Emma – and yes, we have gone Christmas Crazy so warm up music includes “The First Noel” (that one by Groban and Faith Hill) for those plentiful pliés. Only tendus and glissés will do as we enjoy doing those to “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.” For those really rounded Rond de Jambes, we have the wonderful Carpenters with “Christmas Waltz.” Fast and slow frappés to “Jingle bells” but this one featuring the Puppini Sisters. A snippet from the Nutcracker Suite for delightful développés and then The Ronettes “Sleigh Ride” for the big Battements. And for the main number, that classic, “Fairytale of New York” but the instrumental version so we can all be Queens of New York City.

In studio, also live streamed and the recording is available as well.

2.50pm Show Tap with Emma – ohhh time to get in the line dance tap-tastic mood and a throw back to our tap show number. Lots of pickups, lots of heels and a lot of FUN. And all this to “Blue Christmas” by Lady A. There are twists, there are turns, to the right, to the left and you will keep moving all song long. This Christmas dance routine is stuffed full with more tap step shuffles, flaps, pickup hops and ball change combos than the turkey. We’ll be dancing with you this Saturday.

In studio, also live streamed and the recording is available as well.

And to round off the day in Strictly Style, welcome back to the Studio…

4pm Solo Latin with Katie – Brewer’s Ballroom is live back in studio and on the dance floor this week we have you and Gorka (we wish). Yep we are week 2 of learning the Strictly Salsa that Maisie and Gorka did. You will feel oh so “better when you are dancing” as we will be swinging and adding our own spice to the Salsa Mix. Even if you missed last week, join us as there will be a recap of that first few counts. Get your heels, Step into Salsa.

In studio, also live streamed and the recording is available as well.

How do I join in with this amazing dance classes?

You have a few ways to join in this Saturday. Firstly you can come into the studio. However please ensure you are booked on Mindbody so that we stay COVID safe. Or you can livestream the class from home. Another option is to ask for the class recording and then do the class when it suits you. Please do get in touch with us for the class ID and password or the recording of your choice. Join the meeting and boom, zoom into the room.

Wow, well what about Sunday?

Every Sunday is Super as Sophie takes the lead. We’ve got some some Christmas Cheer in Zumba with a jive and a jazzy routine. And to give yourself a bit of self care stretch attention, Stretch Flow this week focuses on mobility. Zumba at 10am and then Stretch Flow at 10.45am. Sophie on Sunday really makes it a funday for all.

Remember, remember the 5th of Dance December!
