Celebrating 21 Years of First Dance Studios

This year marks a very special milestone for First Dance Studios — 21 years of adult dance, fitness and choir classes in Woking, Surrey.

Twenty-one years ago, Emma and Katie opened the doors and began teaching their very first classes. What started as a small venture has grown into a thriving and welcoming community where hundreds of people have come together to dance, move, sing and build confidence.

A Community Built Through Dance

Over the years, First Dance Studios has become known for its friendly and inclusive approach to adult dance classes in Woking and Surrey. From ballet and tap to commercial, theatre jazz and contemporary, our classes are designed to help adults of all ages and experience levels enjoy movement and performance.

But it’s always been about more than just learning steps.

The studio has grown into a place where friendships are formed, confidence is built and people discover new passions — often later in life than they ever expected.

Dance, Fitness and Choir

Alongside our dance programme, the studio has expanded to include adult fitness classes such as barre fitness, as well as our much-loved First Voices choir.

Together, these classes create a vibrant performing arts community where people can express themselves through movement, music and performance.

Many of our members go on to perform in our theatre productions at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking, taking their place on stage in front of friends, family and the local community.

Looking Ahead

Reaching 21 years is an incredible moment to reflect on the journey so far — from those first classes to the thriving studio we see today.

Most of all, it’s a chance to celebrate the wonderful people who have been part of the story: our teachers, performers, choir members and everyone who has walked through the studio doors over the years.

First Dance Studios has always been about creating a supportive, inclusive and welcoming community, and we are so proud of what has grown over the past two decades.
